How to Store Peppermint Bark
The candy in peppermint bark stores well at room temperature with a simple covering of plastic, but the "bark" in peppermint bark -- the chocolate -- doesn't last long when exposed to oxygen, light or heat. So, storing peppermint bark for maximum shelf life requires an airtight container and a dark, cold place -- in other words, a refrigerator or freezer. Wrap peppermint bark as soon as it cools if you don't use it right away.
Things You'll Need
- Wax paper
- Plastic wrap
- Airtight container or heavy-duty freezer bag
Instructions
-
Break the peppermint bark into large pieces.
-
Wrap each piece of bark in wax paper then wrap it titghtly in plastic wrap.
-
Place the wrapped bark in an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator up to two weeks. To increase the bark's shelf life to six months, store it in a heavy-duty freezer bag in the freezer
