What does a picture look like of cake with no baking soda?
You can't really tell what a cake looks like without baking soda just by looking at it! Here's why:
* Baking soda is for rise: Baking soda is a leavening agent that helps cakes rise and get that fluffy, airy texture.
* Without baking soda, a cake would be:
* Dense and flat: It won't rise properly.
* Tough and chewy: The lack of air pockets will make it feel heavy.
* Possibly dry: Baking soda helps with moisture retention, so the cake might be a bit dry.
Important Note: Most cakes actually use both baking soda and baking powder. So, a cake without baking soda might still have a reasonable appearance, but it won't be as light and fluffy as a cake made with both leaveners.
