How to Make Powdered Frosting Mix
Powdered frosting mix is easy and quick to make. There are only a few ingredients, and there is no cooking required. You can prepare the mix in less than 15 minutes. Then, you can use the mix immediately by adding water, or you can store the mix in a cool, dry place for up to 12 weeks.
Things You'll Need
- Sifter or sieve
- Bowl
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 3 tbsp. instant nonfat milk powder
- 6 tbsp. vegetable shortening
- 1/2 unsweetened cocoa powder (optional; see Tips)
- Pastry blender
- Spoon
- Resealable bags, sandwich-size
- Permanent marker
Instructions

Sift the powdered sugar thoroughly in a large bowl.

Stir in the milk powder.

Cut in the shortening with a pastry blender. The mix is now finished. Makes 1/4 cup or 8 servings.

Store the mix in sandwich-size resealable bags. Mark the bags with the date and store the bags in a cool, dry place. Use the mix within 12 weeks.
