How do you make garlic knots?
Homemade Garlic Knots: A Delicious Treat
Ingredients:
* Dough:
* 1 cup warm water (105-115°F)
* 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
* 1 teaspoon sugar
* 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1/4 cup olive oil
* Garlic Butter:
* 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
* 4 cloves garlic, minced
* 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
1. Activate the Yeast: In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let stand for 5-10 minutes until the yeast is foamy.
2. Add Dry Ingredients: Stir in the flour and salt until a dough forms.
3. Knead the Dough: Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Add more flour if needed to prevent sticking.
4. Rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
5. Shape the Knots: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 6-inch rope. Tie each rope into a knot and place on a greased baking sheet.
6. Rise Again: Cover the knots and let them rise for 15-20 minutes.
7. Bake: Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
8. Make the Garlic Butter: While the knots bake, melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Add garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper. Stir until combined.
9. Brush and Serve: Brush the hot garlic knots with the garlic butter and serve immediately.
Tips:
* For extra flavor, add a pinch of dried oregano or basil to the dough.
* You can also use a food processor to knead the dough.
* If you don't have fresh parsley, you can use 1 tablespoon of dried parsley.
* To prevent the garlic butter from burning, use a low heat and keep a close eye on it.
* Garlic knots are delicious served with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
Enjoy your freshly baked garlic knots!
