How do you reconstitute dried basil?
Method 1: Soaking
1. Measure the dried basil and place it in a bowl. Use 2 tablespoons of dried basil for each cup of fresh basil needed in the recipe.
2. Add boiling water to the bowl. Use enough water to cover the basil.
3. Let the mixture soak for 5 minutes. This will allow the basil to rehydrate.
4. Drain the basil and pat it dry. Use a paper towel or clean kitchen towel to pat the basil dry.
5. Use the reconstituted basil as directed in your recipe.
Method 2: Microwave
1. Measure the dried basil and place it in a microwave-safe bowl. Use 2 tablespoons of dried basil for each cup of fresh basil needed in the recipe.
2. Add 2 tablespoons of water to the bowl.
3. Microwave on high for 30 seconds.
4. Let it stand for 3 minutes, covered.
5. Fluff with a fork and use as you would fresh basil.
