How is oil harvested?
Extraction
The first step in oil harvesting is extracting the oil from the ground. This can be done through conventional drilling or a number of unconventional methods, such as fracking.
Transportation
Once the oil has been extracted, it must be transported to a refinery. This is done through pipelines, trucks, or ships. Pipelines are the most common method of transportation as they are cost-effective and efficient.
Refining
At the refinery, the crude oil is further processed to make it more useful. This involves distilling the oil to separate it into different components, such as gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel.
Distribution
The refined oil is then distributed to gas stations, airports, and other customers. This is done through pipelines, trucks, and ships.
