Is finely chopped crystallized ginger the same as ground ginger?

Finely chopped candied ginger is not the same as ground ginger.

Crystallized ginger is a type of preserved ginger that is made by simmering ginger in sugar syrup until the ginger becomes translucent and the sugar syrup thickens into a syrup. The ginger is then coated in more sugar to prevent it from sticking together. Crystallized ginger has a sweet and spicy flavor and a chewy texture.

Ground ginger, on the other hand, is made by drying and grinding ginger root into a powder. It is a spice with a warm, spicy, and slightly sweet flavor.

While both crystallized ginger and ground ginger are made from ginger, their flavors, textures, and uses are quite different. Crystallized ginger is a sweet treat and can be eaten as a snack or used as an ingredient in desserts, such as ginger cake or gingerbread cookies. Ground ginger is a spice that can be used to flavor savory dishes, such as stir-fries, curries, or gingerbread.
