Are fruits and vegetables merit goods?
Fruits and vegetables are not typically considered merit goods. Merit goods are goods that are deemed necessary for the well-being of citizens, even if they may not be in high demand among the general population. Examples of merit goods include national defense, public education, and healthcare. While fruits and vegetables are certainly important for a healthy diet, they are not considered to be as essential as the aforementioned examples of merit goods.
