What conditions do prickly pears grow in?
Prickly pears (Opuntia ficus-indica) are a type of cactus that is native to Mexico but has been introduced to many other parts of the world. They grow best in warm, dry climates with plenty of sun. Prickly pears can tolerate high temperatures and drought conditions, making them well-suited for growing in arid regions. They are also tolerant of poor soils and can even grow in rocky or sandy soil. Prickly pears do not need a lot of water, and they can actually store water in their pads for use during dry periods.
