How to Freeze Roasted Garlic (5 Steps)
Roasted garlic has an intense, earthy aroma and taste and can be added to many savory dishes. Roasting it is simple, and can be done in a conventional oven with a little olive oil, salt and pepper. Rather than roasting a few cloves each time you want to use them, prepare an entire pan and freeze them so that you will always have some on hand.
Things You'll Need
- Sheet pan
- Cooking spray
- Double-zippered freezer bags
Instructions
-
Spray a clean sheet pan with cooking spray, and lay the garlic on the pan. Make sure the cloves do not touch one another.
-
Place the pan in the freezer for two hours or until the garlic cloves are completely frozen.
-
Scrape the cloves off of the pan and into the freezer bags, filling them about three-quarters of the way up. Because they were not touching when frozen, they will come out of the bags one at a time.
-
Squeeze any air out of the bags and seal the bags.
-
Remove cloves as needed, any time a recipe calls for garlic or roasted garlic. Squeeze the air out of the bag and seal it tightly each time.
