What is tertiary tillage?

Tertiary tillage involves secondary tillage followed by land smoothing and firming. It may be required for seedbed preparation, after secondary tillage operations if the soil is too loose or cloddy, or for crust breaking or aeration. Rotary tillers, power harrows, and land levellers are commonly used for tertiary tillage operations.
