How to Remove Beet Stains From Fingers
Beets are a versatile root vegetable that can be eaten raw, as well as steamed, roasted, baked or fried. The juice extracted from this vegetable is a source for lowering blood pressure. The only drawback from handling beets of the red variety is that it will leave bright pinkish-red stains on your fingers. Fortunately, those stains can be removed.
Things You'll Need
- Beets
- Lemons
- Table salt
Instructions
-
Cut one lemon in half. Over the kitchen sink, squeeze some juice from one lemon half directly onto your hands. Rub the liquid between your hands and let the juice drip into the sink. Rinse off your hands.
-
Continue applying lemon juice to your hands until all stains from the beets have been removed. If your fingers have been heavily stained, you may try soaking your hands in a bowl of lemon juice. To do this, cut two lemons in half. Squeeze juice from the lemon halves into a large serving bowl. Place both hands into the bowl (or individually, if the bowl is too small) to soak for one to two minutes. Rinse off excess lemon juice.
-
Dry your hands completely. Pour about a half-of-a-dime size amount of table salt into the palm of your hand. Spread the salt out across your hand, then rub your hands together. The coarseness of the salt combined with the friction from the rubbing action will begin to remove the beet stains. Rinse your hands with warm water to remove the salt and stains.
