Can Greek Yogurt Be Frozen?
Yogurt was used by the ancient Greeks to aid digestion and was considered good for the stomach. Today, we understand that yogurt contains good bacteria in the form of microorganisms that are beneficial for us.
Greek Yogurt
-
Greek Yogurt is made from cow's or sheep's milk that has been reduced down by boiling. This eliminates the liquid content and gives the yogurt its thick consistency. Greek yogurt has a fat content of between 8 and 10 percent.
Frozen Greek Yogurt
-
Greek yogurt can be frozen and used in a variety of desserts such as trifles, pies and cake. Due to its fat content, the yogurt should not curdle, so it can also be used in many savory dishes. As a savory addition it can be used in recipes for soup, salads and sauces. Greek yogurt can be stored in the freezer for up to three months.
Greek Yogurt Ice Cream
-
To make a Greek Yogurt ice cream, simply add a tablespoon of soy, rice or cow's milk to a single serving. You will then need to add a tablespoon of honey and a couple of drops of vanilla essence. Mix it together in an old ice cream tub that has a lid. Seal the tub and leave it in the freezer for up to an hour. Check after half an hour to make sure that it does not get too hard. You can change the yogurt flavor by experimenting with different ingredients, such as adding nuts like pistachios.
