How to Freeze Blueberry Sauce (3 Steps)
There's nothing quite like the flavor of homemade blueberry sauce drizzled over fresh pancakes or French toast, or pretty much anything. Unfortunately, blueberries are not always in season or easy to purchase. Instead of spending months without their bright flavor, take advantage of blueberry season to prepare for the rest of the year. Blueberry sauce freezes and thaws well, so don't hesitate to make a big batch of it and freeze the extra to use when this delicious berry is out of season.
Things You'll Need
- Airtight freezer containers
Instructions
-
Allow the blueberry sauce to cool to near room temperature. Putting hot foods into your freezer means they take longer to freeze, and might also cause other foods in the freezer to partially thaw.
-
Transfer the cooled blueberry sauce into airtight freezer containers. The intense color of the blueberries may stain some containers, so choose containers that you don't mind potentially discoloring. Leave approximately 1/2 inch of room at the top of each container.
-
Seal the containers of blueberry sauce tightly, then transfer them to the freezer.
