How to Make Basil Butter for Steak (3 Steps)
The simple combination of butter and herbs turns a plain steak dinner into an upscale affair. When the steaks are finished cooking, top them with a pat of this flavorful basil-infused butter for a mouthwatering meal. The basil works wonderfully on its own, but you can create more complex flavors by using a variety of herbs, including parsley, oregano or rosemary. A clove of minced garlic or a squirt of lemon juice are also excellent additions. Basil butter will keep safely in the refrigerator for up to one week.
Things You'll Need
- Fresh basil
- Butter, softened
Instructions
-
Wash and dry the basil leaves, then finely chop them. You'll need about 1/3 cup of chopped, packed basil for every stick of butter.
-
Transfer the chopped basil and the softened butter to a bowl. Using a stand mixer, hand mixer or a fork, combine the mixture until the basil is evenly distributed. Alternately, you can toss whole basil leaves and the butter in a food processor and blend until the basil leaves are chopped and fully incorporated.
-
Season the butter to taste with salt and pepper. Set aside until you're ready to serve.
