Can you put corningware bowl in oven just on metal rack?

It's not recommended to put Corningware directly on a metal oven rack. Here's why:

* Uneven Heating: Metal racks transfer heat very quickly, and the direct contact can lead to uneven heating of the Corningware bowl. This can cause hot spots and potential cracking or breakage.

* Heat Damage: The intense heat from the metal rack can damage the Corningware's surface, especially if it's not oven-safe or if it's old and has been exposed to high temperatures many times.

Instead, you should always:

* Use an oven-safe baking sheet or trivet: This creates a barrier between the Corningware and the metal rack, distributing heat more evenly and protecting the bowl from direct contact.

* Follow the manufacturer's instructions: Check the Corningware label or packaging for specific oven-safe temperature guidelines.

Important Note: Some older Corningware, especially those made before the 1980s, might not be oven-safe. Look for the "oven-safe" markings on the bottom of the bowl.
