Is making microwave popcorn endothermic or exothermic?
Making microwave popcorn is an exothermic process.
An exothermic process is one in which heat is released. When microwave popcorn is cooked, the kernels are heated by the microwaves and the water inside them turns to steam. This steam builds up pressure inside the kernels and eventually causes them to pop. The popping of the kernels is what releases the heat and makes the popcorn hot.
