Does anyone remember a kitchen gadget used for mealing or flouring food?
Flour Dredger
A flour sifter or dredger is a kitchen utensil for dusting food items in fine flour, sugar, cocoa, confectioners' sugar and the like without forming clumps that would occur if simply shaking it from a container. Dredgers usually consist of a cylindrical body (made of ceramic, metal, or plastic) with multiple fine mesh holes along its sides and ends.
The dredger works in a somewhat similar manner to the salt shaker: flour or the like is scooped directly into the dredger. Shaking causes a small amount of fine dust-like particles to pass through the perforations distributed over the cylindrical surface. Dredgers were widely used to dust baking surfaces to prevent pastries such as bread, dough, pie crust, etc., from sticking and to give these food items a characteristic appearance due to even flouring.
