How to Get Burned Sugar Out of a Stainless Steel Pan
When sugar burns onto the bottom of a stainless steel pot or pan, removing it can seem like an impossible task. However, there are many techniques to help lift the sugar away from the surface of your pan. Stainless steel cookware is expensive, so cleaning it properly and thoroughly is especially important, to protect your investment.
Things You'll Need
- Water
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Cleanser
Instructions
-
Fill the burned pot with water and bring to a boil. Boil for three to five minutes, to remove as much sugar as possible. Carefully drain the water.
-
Add one to two inches of hydrogen peroxide to the pot. Return the pan to the stove and bring it back to a boil.
-
Boil the peroxide for at least two minutes. Watch it carefully; do not walk away from the stove. Most of the sugar should lift off the surface of the pan during this process.
-
Rinse thoroughly with hot water.
-
Form a paste of commercial cleanser and water and apply it to the scorched area, if any remains on the surface of the pan.
-
Let the paste sit for at least two minutes. Gently scrub clean.
