How to Make Donuts With a Donut Maker
Deep-fried dough, shaped like a circle, with a little hole cut out in the middle and covered with sugary toppings and served hot. Ah, donuts are a staple food in America. The treats are eaten for breakfast and served at social gatherings. You can typically find donuts at most grocery stores, but they can't hold a candle to the homemade variety. Serve fresh donuts by using a donut maker. Donut makers are small kitchen appliances, similar to a waffle iron. Top your fresh donuts with frosting, peanut butter or your own special treat.
Things You'll Need
- Donut batter
- Donut maker
- Vegetable oil
Instructions
-
Purchase a commercial donut mix and follow the instructions on the box to create the donut batter. Make your own donut batter by following a family recipe or using one similar to the recipe from cooks.com. (See reference 2.)
-
Drizzle a little oil into each donut well on the maker and use a towel to spread it over the cooking pan of the donut maker. Plug the donut maker into the wall socket and close the lid.
-
Watch for the heating light to turn green or to go out (if red). This depends on the donut maker brand; some brands have a red light that turns off when the maker is heated while others have a green light that turns on when it is ready.
-
Spoon approximately 1 tablespoon of donut batter into each cooking well on the donut maker. Close the lid and allow the donuts to cook for between two and four minutes or until golden brown. Open the lid and remove the donuts with a plastic spatula. Allow the donuts to cool slightly before topping them off.
