Can you make butter with whipping cream?
Ingredients:
- 2 Cups (1 Pint) Whipping Cream (Heavy Cream)
- ½ Tablespoon Salt
Instructions:
1. Put the whipping cream in a stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment or put the cream in a large bowl and use an electric mixer.
2. Beat the cream on medium-high speed for 3-5 minutes, or until the cream starts to thicken. Then reduce speed to medium-low. You will see that the cream is separating from the buttermilk.
3. Continue to beat until the cream turns into solid butter, about 5-10 minutes (it may take longer). You will know it is ready when you see very little buttermilk left and it is almost all golden butter.
4. When you see very little buttermilk left and the butter starts to come together in one big ball, turn the mixer off.
5. Pour out the buttermilk and add cold water to wash the butter to get rid of any leftover buttermilk.
6. Drain the water and add salt to the butter if desired.
7. Knead the butter a bit to distribute the salt.
8. Form it into a ball, wrap it with parchment paper, and store in the refrigerator or freeze.
