How to Cut Potatoes (5 Steps)
Potatoes are a yummy addition to any stew or any dish. If prepared correctly, potatoes can add a nice, healthy touch to any meal. Once you have washed and peeled your potatoes, you are ready to cut them. Here are a few steps on how to cut a potato.
Things You'll Need
- Clean, dry cutting board
- Sharp knife
- Ripened potatoes
Instructions
-
Wash and peel the potatoes that you would like to include in your stew or dish. Make sure you have all of the peeling off of the potato.
-
Place the potato on a clean, dry cutting board.
-
Cut the potato with a sharp knife into thirds. Cut them slowly so that you cut them evenly and do not risk cutting your fingers.
-
Turn each third onto its side and cut it in half. Then, while holding the potato together, rotate it and cut it into half again. You should have several quarter cut potatoes with this type of cut.
-
Lay the small, cut up sections of potato to the side and continue to cut the other thirds in the same manner as described in Step 4.
