How to cook pata tim
Pata Tim is a Filipino dish. Its main ingredient is the pork leg. The pork leg is slowly boiled to make the pork leg tender. Soy sauce, sugar and a couple of pieces of star anise are the main ingredients that give the pork a sweet and spicy taste. If you are new to Filipino dishes, the pata tim is simple to prepare. It is the ideal dish to serve at dinner for the whole family to enjoy.
Things You'll Need
- Medium pot
- 2 lbs pork's leg (pata)
- 8 shiitake mushrooms
- 3/4 cup light soy sauce
- 2 star anise
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup plus 2 tbsp sherry
- 1 bunch spring onions
- Water
Instructions

Soak the shiitake mushrooms in warm water and set it aside. Place the pork's leg (pata) into a medium pot. Pour the light soy sauce in the pot.

Place the star anise on top of the (pata). Shake sugar into the pot and then pour the sherry over the top of the everything in the pot..

Pour in the mushrooms and the liquid they are in into the pot and add the spring onions.

Pour water into the pot until it covers the pata. Cook all of the ingredients on high heat until it comes to a boil. Lower the heat until the contents of the pot are simmering and let the pata cook for approximately 4 hours, until it is tender.
