How to Peserve the Life of Deep Frying Oil

Fried foods are tasteful and filling but oftentimes have the dubious distinction of being bad for your health in large quantities. Improving the quality of the oil you use to fry, and subsequently maintaining that quality, improves the lifespan of your cooking oil (which will save you money on replacement oil in the long run). It also has the benefit of greatly improving the flavor of your food, the quality of your food and the fryer's lifespan.

Instructions

  1. Clean the fryer regularly and keep it free of debris and dirt throughout the day. Remove particulates or caked on food from the baskets when you clean them at the end of the night.

  2. Sift out sediment from your oil after every use, and strain the oil through a filter at the end of everyday of use. This will prevent your oil from collecting excess sediment and food particulates that ruin the usability of your oil. Do not overfill the fryer with oil. More oil is not necessarily better and reduces the oil's ability to heat up evenly, making it tougher to cook your food.

  3. Use frypowder to improve the cooking ability of your oil and prevent its absorption into your food. Cook your food within the optimal range recommended by the fryer's manufacturer. Never go above this to avoid burning your oil and reducing its lifespan. Keep your fryer turned off when it is not in use.

  4. "Freshen" the oil by dumping out some of it at the end of everyday, and replacing this portion with unused oil. This will ensure that there are fewer particulates in the oil and significantly increase its lifespan.
