How to Substitute Powdered Sugar for Regular Sugar
You've started the recipe and you reach into the pantry only to discover that you are out of granulated sugar. All that remains on the pantry shelf is a bag of powdered sugar. In most recipes, you can easily replace the granulated sugar with the powdered type without any noticeable differences. Powdered sugar is the same product as granulated sugar, only has been ground to the powdered state.
Things You'll Need
- Measuring cups
- Spoon or fork
- Bowl
Instructions
-
Measure twice the amount of powdered sugar than is called for in the recipe. For instance, if the recipe states 1 cup of sugar, measure out 2 cups.
-
Pour the measured powdered sugar into a bowl.
-
Stir the sugar in the bowl using a spoon or fork. This will break apart any clumps in the powdered sugar.
-
Use the stirred sugar in your recipe, adding it at the proper place according to instructions.
