Tatung Rice Cooker Instructions
Tatung, a consumer electronics company, produces two types of rice cookers: direct and indirect heating. The indirect heating rice cooker uses double-pot indirect cooking, which involves pouring water into an outer pot and putting food into an interior pot. The heat from steam cooks the food instead of heating the food directly with an heating element. Indirect heating cookers apply heat all around the food, which results in faster, more even cooking.
Things You'll Need
- 2 or more cups of rice
- 2 or more cups of water
- Measuring cup
Preparing Rice Using Indirect Heating
-
Measure the quantity of rice desired using a measuring cup and pour into the inner pot.
-
Fill the inner pot with water to the water level line for the number of cups of rice used. For example, if cooking two cups of rice, fill the inner pot to the second water level line.
-
Fill the measuring cup with water equivalent to the amount of rice used. For example, if two cups of rice was used, fill the measuring cup with two cups of water.
-
Pour the water into the outer cooker.
-
Plug in the rice cooker.
-
Cover the cooker and press the switch lever down until the red light appears. The cooker will turn off automatically when the rice is done. Do not immediately remove the rice; leave the rice covered in the cooker for about 15 minutes to complete the steam cooking.
Preparing Rice Using Direct Heating
-
Measure the desired amount of rice in a measuring cup.
-
Pour the rice into the inner pot.
-
Fill the inner pot to the water level line that matches the amount of rice used. For example, if preparing two cups of rice, fill the inner pot to the second water level line.
-
Look to be sure the outside of the interior pot is clean and dry. Ensure that the inner pot has direct contact with the heating plate so that the rice cooks properly.
-
Plug in the rice cooker.
-
Press down the cook button.
-
Cover the cooker and press the switch lever down until the red light appears. The cooker will cut off automatically when the rice is done. Do not immediately remove the rice; leave the rice covered in the cooker for about 15 minutes to complete the steam cooking.
