How to Pop Popcorn in a Bowl in the Microwave
Whether you like it salty, sweet, plain or buttery, popcorn can make a tasty snack. Popping your popcorn in a bowl in the microwave can be an easy and efficient method of making your desired flavor of popcorn perfectly without burning it -- but it is important to use the correct equipment.
Things You'll Need
- Microwave
- Microwave-safe popcorn popping bowl
- Kernels
- Seasoning/flavoring, optional
Instructions
-
Use a clearly specified microwave-safe popcorn popping bowl. These come in various sizes; choose one that is the right size for the portions you want.
-
Measure the recommended amount of kernels, which should be specified on the packaging of the microwave bowl, and put them into the bowl. Add any desired seasonings or flavorings, such as salt or oil, if you like, though it is not necessary. These can be added after the popcorn is cooked, but adding them before ensures a more even distribution.
-
Place the lid provided onto the bowl and put in the microwave. Follow the instructions on the packaging for the recommended time to cook your popcorn for and at what heat the microwave should be on. If you are unsure, begin popping your popcorn at a high heat and listen carefully until there are 2 to 3 seconds between pops.
-
Pour your popcorn in a serving bowl, or simply leave it in the microwave bowl. If you have not done so already, add seasoning to taste.
