How to Grill Using a Gas Stove (5 Steps)
Some people are addicted to grilling, but when winter rolls around, grill addicts are stuck inside, cooking their meats in the oven. Oven-cooked meat can often dry out. If you have a gas stove, you can use a broiling pan and mimic the experience of grilling outside on a regular gas grill. If you plan to grill on your stove, have an overhead fan-controlled vent to clear the smoke out of your kitchen.
Things You'll Need
- Broiling pan
- Tongs
Instructions
-
Light both burners and set them to low heat.
-
Place a broiling pan on the front two gas burner elements on your stove. A broiling pan consists of a metal pan that resembles a cookie sheet and a slotted piece of sheet metal that acts as the metal grate of a grill. The slotted sheet goes on top of the cookie sheet pan.
-
Turn the burners up to high and allow the pan to heat up for several minutes. Sprinkle a few drops of water on the top of the pan periodically until the water drops turn to steam when they hit the pan. This indicates the pan is hot.
-
Place your meat onto the broiling pan. Flip your meat every few minutes with the tongs until the center of the meat reaches its proper internal temperature. You can use the same basting methods you use on a standard grill.
-
Turn off the gas burners and allow the broiling pan time to cool down before touching it.
