How to Broil Venison
You're not likely to find venison, which is deer meat, at the average supermarket. But if you've tried venison and love it, you may want to try preparing venison at home. You can find deer meat at specialty butcher shops, as well as from online shops. Venison will come in steak or chop form. You can prepare venison in a variety of ways. Broiling is a quick and easy way to enjoy your venison quickly.
Things You'll Need
- 2 lbs. venison steak, 1/2-inch thick
- Salt, to taste
- Fresh ground black pepper, to taste
- Olive oil
- 1 medium onion, peeled and sliced thick
- Cooking spray
Instructions

Place the oven on broil. Spray the broiler pan generously with cooking spray.

Place the broiler pan on the top rack in the oven, closest to the broiler heat.

Rub olive oil, salt and pepper on the venison steak -- enough to cover each steak completely.

Separate the rings of the sliced onion. Set aside.

Open the oven, pull the rack out and carefully place the venison steaks on top of the broiler pan. Push the rack back into the oven and close the door.

Allow the steaks to cook for 5 minutes on one side. Flip the steaks over and cook for another
3 minutes.

Remove the broiler pan carefully using oven mitts and place it on the next rack below it. Place the
separated onion rings on top, and place back in the oven.

Cook until the rings turn a golden brown. Remove from the oven and let the steaks rest for 5 to 10 minutes before carving it.
