How to Marinate Steak With A-1 Marinade (4 Steps)

Marinating steaks with A-1 marinade provides flavor and tenderness to tougher meats, which may not otherwise cook well. Using A-1 to marinate a steak is fast, only about an hour, and your family can enjoy the taste of a less expensive cut of meat. When the weather is warm, use A-1 to marinate steaks for grilling. Adding spices, onions or green peppers changes the flavors in the A-1 marinade and keeps meals from getting boring.

Things You'll Need

  • Meat mallet or knife
  • Large plastic or glass containers
  • Plastic wrap

Instructions

  1. Choose your cut of steak. Don’t use A-1 to marinate expensive meats like filet mignon or porterhouse. Marinade works best on steak that is low in fat and needs tenderizing, as it contains acids that break down tough muscle tissue.

  2. Pound the meat with a meat mallet a few times on each side, or make shallow cuts into the meat to allow the A-1 marinade to soak deeper into the steak. The faster the marinade penetrates to the center of the steak, the less damage occurs to the exterior from the acid in the A-1.

  3. Open a plastic or glass container, pour the A-1 marinade into the container and place the meat in the container. Turn and cover the as much of the meat as you can with the marinade for best results.

  4. Close the container, cover with plastic wrap or seal the plastic bag with the marinating steaks inside. Place the container in the refrigerator for 30 to 60 minutes before cooking the steaks.
