How to Cook Cauliflower in the Pressure Cooker
A pressure cooker is an efficient way to prepare many foods, with its sealed steam bath retaining much of the flavor and nutrients in your ingredients. Many vegetables, like cauliflower, take just a few minutes to prepare in a pressure cooker, losing little of its health benefits and taste. This gives you more time to devote to other parts of the meal, like eating it.
Things You'll Need
- Pressure cooker with elevated basket or trivet rack
- Vegetable stock (optional)
Instructions
-
Open the lid of your pressure cooker and set your steam basket or trivet inside.
-
Pour 1/2 cup of water or vegetable stock into the bottom.
-
Cut your cauliflower into florets and place them onto the trivet. Don't fill the cooker past two-thirds full.
-
Return the lid to the cooker, and turn the lid until it locks into place according to your particular manufacturer's specifications.
-
Place your cooker on medium-high heat on the stove and wait until the pressure gauge reads "High."
-
Remove the cooker from the heat after two to three minutes. Place it in your kitchen sink.
-
Use the quick-release method to open the lid. This involves placing the cooker under running cold water until the pressure gauge lowers, then opening the lid according to your particular manufacturer's indications.
