How to Frost Biscotti

Adding frosting to biscotti adds extra sweetness to this crunchy coffee dunker. Biscotti are elongated cookies that are twice-baked, giving them their signature crunchiness. They are typically served with coffee and can come in a variety of flavors, although almond biscottis are traditional. When biscotti are frosted, they are typically frosted with melted chocolate of any variety. The frosting also adds a little flavor to your coffee as you dunk it in your coffee.

Things You'll Need

  • Saucepan
  • Baking chocolate
  • Heat-proof bowl
  • Wooden spoon

Melting

  1. Fill a saucepan about halfway with water and bring to a simmer on the stove.

  2. Place baking chocolate chips or squares in a heatproof bowl and place it on top of the saucepan. The water should not reach the bottom of the heat-proof bowl. You can melt any type of chocolate you prefer, such as dark, semi-sweet, milk chocolate and white chocolate.

  3. Stir the chocolate constantly with a wooden spoon as it melts until completely smooth. Remove from the heat.

  4. Dip each biscotti into the melted chocolate as you prefer. You can dip one or both ends in chocolate, or dip the whole top side of the biscotti in the chocolate. Alternatively, you can drizzle the chocolate over each biscotti with a spoon to create a decorative design.

  5. Place the frosted biscotti on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place the sheet in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes for the chocolate to harden.
