What do you during a grease fire?
Never throw water on a grease fire. Water will cause the fire to spread.
If a small pan fire ignites, carefully, quickly slide the pan lid onto the pan to smother the fire. Then, turn off the heat to keep the fire from reigniting.
If the pan fire is too big to smother, or the flames go up the side of the pan, don’t waste any time trying to put it out. Get everyone out of the kitchen, including yourself. Once you’re a safe distance away, call the fire department.
If the fire is small but getting bigger, pour bicarbonate (baking) soda onto it. Baking soda works as a fire suppressant, releasing carbon dioxide. Never use flour, as it is flammable and can make the fire worse.
