How to Make Cookies With Shaped Cake Pans (7 Steps)

Instead of a standard cake that lacks imagination, perhaps a giant cookie would be a fun change of pace for some parties and celebrations. With basic cookie dough batter, you can easily make large cookies in different shaped cake pans. Because cake pans come in a variety of fun character and sporting shapes, the giant cookies are certain to fit whatever theme you need.

Things You'll Need

  • Cookie batter
  • Shaped cake pan
  • Parchment paper
  • Scissors
  • Vegetable shortening
  • Paper towel
  • Oven
  • Wire rack
  • Cake board
  • Frosting
  • Decorator tips

Instructions

  1. Make the cookie batter according to your recipe and set it aside.

  2. Place a piece of parchment paper onto a flat work surface and place the cake pan onto the center of the parchment paper. Use the pencil to trace around the outside of the cake pan onto the parchment paper. Cut out the shape with the scissors and discard the scraps of parchment paper.

  3. Scoop out a small amount of vegetable shortening onto the paper towel and grease the inside side edges of the cake pan. Place the cut parchment paper into the cake pan so that it fits perfectly.

  4. Press the cookie batter into the prepared cake pan, making sure it is at least 1/2-inch thick across the entire surface of the cake pan. For best results, spread the cookie batter evenly.

  5. Bake the cookie in the cake pan at 375 degrees F for approximately 20 to 30 minutes. Check regularly; remove the cake pan from the oven when the cookie batter is set in the center and the edges are golden brown.

  6. Cool the cookie in the cake pan on a wire rack until it is completely cool. Invert the cookie out of the cake pan and onto a large cake board. Peel off the parchment paper and discard it.

  7. Frost the cookie as desired. Suggestions for frosting include making a floral or star border around the outer edges, writing a celebratory message on the cookie or adding animals or flowers made of frosting.
