What Is the Fastest Way to Boil Water on a Gas Stove?
Water has to go from its starting temperature to 212 degrees Fahrenheit to achieve a full, rolling boil. It can be a time-consuming and boring process, especially if you stand at the stove, watching the pot. There are a few things you can do to that will shave off a little time.
A Hot Pot
-
Let your tap water run until it's as hot as possible, then fill up your pan. The hot tap water will not only boil faster, but it will warm the metal, which will require less energy from your gas flame to heat up the pot. The pot should have a tight-fitting lid to both trap heat and to use the power of steam to speed things up.
Give It the Gas
-
The more fire, the faster your pot will boil, so choose the largest burner your pot can fit over top of and turn the flame up as high as possible. Make sure the flame concentrates on the bottom of the pan and doesn't travel up the sides.
