How do you steam flour tortillas?

How to Steam Tortillas

Steaming tortillas is a quick and easy way to soften them and make them pliable. This is especially helpful for corn tortillas, which can become dry and brittle if they are not cooked properly.

You will need:

- A steamer basket

- A pot with a lid

- Water

- Tortillas

Instructions:

1. Fill the pot with about an inch of water and bring it to a boil.

2. Place the steamer basket in the pot and make sure that the water is not touching the bottom of the basket.

3. Place the tortillas in the steamer basket and cover the pot with the lid.

4. Steam the tortillas for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, or until they are soft and pliable.

5. Remove the tortillas from the steamer basket and use them immediately.

Tips:

- If you do not have a steamer basket, you can use a colander instead. Just make sure that the holes in the colander are small enough so that the tortillas do not fall through.

- You can also steam tortillas in the microwave. To do this, place the tortillas on a plate and cover them with a damp paper towel. Microwave the tortillas on high for 30 seconds to 1 minute, or until they are soft and pliable.

- Steamed tortillas are a great way to make tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and other Mexican dishes. They can also be used as a base for other dishes, such as pizza or quesadillas.
