Baking Classes for Children
Baking courses for children offer an opportunity for them to be creative and develop skills in the kitchen. Children of all ages can learn to make dishes, treats and desserts under the supervision and instruction of professional chefs. The goal of these courses is not only to teach children how to bake, but to have fun while doing it.

King Arthur Flour Company offers a variety of baking classes for children. The courses include "A is for Apple," "The Haunted House," "Gingerbread House Front" and "O Christmas Tree.: These are one-day courses that last for three hours and cost between $50 and $85 a piece in 2010. The "A is for Apple" course teaches children how to bake an apple pie, and "The Haunted House" class offers children the opportunity to decorate a haunted housefront with frosting and edible candy. The gingerbread course allows children to use icing to decorate a gingerbread mansion, and children can bake and decorate a gingerbread tree in the Christmas class.

Chef Gail Sokol

Chef Sokol is the instructor of baking at the Schenectady County Community College in New York. She provides baking and cooking course for children between the ages of 10 and18 throughout the school year and offers the Summer Baking Camp every July. Courses during the year are held on Saturdays and are three hours long. Students in the class learn to make gourmet meals, pizza and international cuisine.

Kids Cooking Company

While the Kids Cooking Company offers cooking camps for children in August, it provide courses throughout the year. Kids from the ages of 2½ to12 can participate in a variety of cooking courses including "Cooking with Mommy/Daddy," "Growing Gourmets" and "After School Chefs." Students learn about mixing ingredients, following recipes, cooking etiquette, nutrition and food safety.

The Kitchen Conservatory in St. Louis offers a baking class for children ages 7 to 12. Children in the class are able to gain hands-on experience and can actually choose the foods and desserts they want to bake. All classes are two hours in length, and the venue is available for birthday parties.

The Merry Kitchen

The Merry Kitchen has various cooking and baking courses for children ages 3 to 14. Children can learn how to make Italian food, Mediterranean dishes, sushi and Disney princess dishes. The Disney princess dishes include Snow White apple pie, princess punch and princess fruit wands. Children learn to create an entire meal and can take home their own recipe.
