How do chickens get eggs?
Chickens don't "get" eggs the way we might get a present. They produce them! Here's the breakdown:
* Ovaries: Female chickens have one functional ovary, which holds thousands of tiny egg yolks.
* Ovulation: Each day, a yolk matures and is released from the ovary, like a tiny bubble.
* Oviduct: The yolk then travels through a long tube called the oviduct.
* Adding the Parts: As the yolk moves through the oviduct, it's coated with layers of albumen (egg white), membranes, and a shell.
* Laying: When the egg is fully formed, it's laid through the vent (the opening at the end of the oviduct).
So, it's a process of development and creation, not something they receive from somewhere else.
