Where can I find a pickled eggs recipe?
Here's a recipe for pickled eggs:
Ingredients:
- 1 dozen eggs
- 1 quart water
- 2 tablespoons white vinegar
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 2 tablespoons pickling salt
- 1 teaspoon mustard seed
- 1 teaspoon celery seed
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 bay leaf
- Whole cloves
- Cinnamon stick
Instructions:
1. Place eggs in a large saucepan and cover with water.
2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat and simmer for 10-12 minutes.
3. Drain eggs and transfer to a bowl of cold water to stop the cooking process.
4. Peel the eggs and place them in a clean glass jar.
5. In a saucepan, combine water, vinegar, sugar, salt, mustard seed, celery seed, red pepper flakes, turmeric, bay leaf, cloves, and cinnamon stick.
6. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar and salt are dissolved.
7. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
8. Pour the cooled pickling liquid over the eggs in the jar, making sure they are completely submerged.
9. Cover the jar and store in a cool, dark place for at least two weeks before eating.
Note: The eggs will continue to improve in flavor over time. They will keep for up to several months in the refrigerator.
