Do peanuts grow on a vine?

Peanuts (Arachis hypogaea) are legumes, and like other legumes, they grow in pods. Peanut plants are small, bushy plants that typically grow to be about 1-2 feet tall. They have green leaves and yellow flowers. After the flowers are pollinated, the pods develop underground. Each pod contains 1-4 seeds, which are the peanuts.
