Does it hurt a toddler to eat raw corn on the cob?
It is not advisable to feed corn on the cob to toddlers or children under the age of 4 unless the kernels have been removed cut off and cooked.
Corn on the cob can pose a choking hazard for young children, as it is possible for them to swallow the entire cob or large chunks of the corn itself. Because of the shape and size of corn kernels, they can also become lodged in a child's airway, causing breathing problems.
Children under the age of 4 do not yet have the skills to fully chew corn kernels and are at higher risk of choking. For toddlers and young children, cooked corn should only be fed to them once the corn kernels have been removed and cut off the cob.
