Why does unwrapped bread not go mouldy?

That's not quite right! Unwrapped bread does go moldy, just like wrapped bread. In fact, it might even go moldy faster!

Here's why:

* Exposure to moisture: Bread is a perfect breeding ground for mold because it contains moisture and starches. Unwrapped bread is exposed to air, which carries moisture, increasing the likelihood of mold growth.

* Exposure to spores: Mold spores are everywhere in the air. Unwrapped bread is more susceptible to these spores landing on its surface, leading to faster mold growth.

* Lack of protection: The wrapping on bread helps to slow down moisture loss and prevent spores from entering the bread. Without this protection, mold can grow much more quickly.

While the rate at which mold grows can be affected by factors like temperature, humidity, and type of bread, unwrapped bread will inevitably become moldy. So, it's best to keep your bread in its original packaging or store it in an airtight container to slow down the molding process.
