What edible fruits commonly regarded as a vegetable?
This is a bit of a tricky question! Botanically, fruits are the mature ovary of a flowering plant, containing seeds. Vegetables are all other edible parts of the plant, such as roots, stems, leaves, etc.
However, in common usage, we often call things vegetables that are technically fruits. Here are some common examples:
* Tomato: A classic example! Botanically a berry, but usually used as a vegetable in cooking.
* Cucumber: Technically a fruit, but used like a vegetable in salads, sandwiches, etc.
* Avocado: Another fruit, but often eaten as a vegetable (in guacamole, for example).
* Pumpkin: A fruit, but typically used in savory dishes.
* Squash: Several varieties are considered fruits, but are primarily used as vegetables.
* Peppers: Fruits, but usually used as vegetables in dishes like stir-fries.
* Eggplant: Botanically a berry, but often used as a vegetable.
* Green beans: Technically fruits, but we use them as vegetables.
There are many more examples, but these are some of the most common fruits that are often referred to as vegetables!
