How do you prepare indicator using beetroot and onion peel?
Beetroot Indicator:
1. Grate the beetroot: Wash and peel a fresh beetroot. Grate it finely using a grater.
2. Extract the juice: Place the grated beetroot in a strainer or cheesecloth and squeeze out the juice. Collect the juice in a bowl.
3. Dilute the juice: Add an equal amount of water to the beetroot juice. Stir well to mix.
Onion Peel Indicator:
1. Collect the onion peels: Peel off the outer layer of several onions. Save the peels and discard the rest of the onion.
2. Boil the peels: Place the onion peels in a saucepan and add water to cover them. Bring the water to a boil and let it simmer for about 15 minutes.
3. Strain the decoction: After boiling, strain the mixture using a strainer or cheesecloth. Collect the onion peel decoction in a bowl.
4. Cool and store: Let the decoction cool down completely. Store it in a sealed container in the refrigerator.
Usage:
To use the beetroot or onion peel indicator, add a few drops of the indicator solution to the solution you want to test. The color change of the indicator will give you an indication of the pH of the solution.
