Muffin Man

• The Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme is another obvious connection with snacks. Hard boiled eggs are ideal to connect to the rhyme. The snack also can turn into a bit of a science lesson. Crack a raw egg to show the kids the insides. Ask them to predict what will happen when the eggs are boiled. They get to see the results once the eggs are done cooking. Reenact Humpty Dumpty allowing the kids to drop the hard boiled eggs onto the counter to crack them. Help the kids continue peeling the eggs before enjoying them as a snack.

Little Boy Blue

• Make edible haystacks to go along with the Little Boy Blue nursery rhyme. You'll need chow mein noodles and butterscotch chips to make the haystacks. Melt the butterscotch chips according to the package directions. Stir in the chow mein noodles so they are covered with the melted butterscotch chips. Scoop out small piles of the noodles on a piece of wax paper to form the haystacks. Let them harden before eating.

• Old Mother Hubbard didn't find a bone for her dog, but the kids will enjoy a bone for snack time. Use a bone-shaped cookie cutter to make bone-shaped sugar cookies for snack time. Give each child a scoop of vanilla icing to spread over the cookies. Another option is to use bread dough to make homemade soft pretzels shaped like a dog bone.
