How to Microwave Boiled Peanuts
Boiled peanuts are a snack food that is well-known in the southern United States but hard to find in other regions. They are made by boiling fresh peanuts for several hours in salty water. Various recipes call for adding other seasonings or chicken broth as well. They are best eaten immediately, while still warm, and have a completely different texture than roasted peanuts. If you have some leftover, or if you purchased them via mail order, you can reheat them in the microwave to simulate just-cooked boiled peanuts.
Things You'll Need
- Microwave-safe dish with cover
Instructions
-
Pierce the bag if the peanuts are in an unopened plastic bag. Or place the peanuts in a microwave-safe container and cover it.
-
Microwave peanuts for one minute.
-
Test to see if they are hot by holding your hand above them. Shake the bag, or stir the peanuts, and microwave for 20 seconds more, if they are not all hot. Continue microwaving and testing until they are hot. The time required will depend on the quantity of the peanuts and the power wattage of the microwave.
