After whom is Caesar Salad named?
The Caesar Salad is not named after a person named Caesar. It was created by Caesar Cardini, an Italian-American chef who owned a restaurant in Tijuana, Mexico, called "Caesar's."
The story goes that Cardini created the salad on a busy July 4th holiday weekend when his supplies were running low. He used what he had on hand (lettuce, garlic, Parmesan cheese, olive oil, lemon juice, and eggs) and the Caesar Salad was born.
