Were did the 1000 Island salad dressing come from?

The Thousand Island dressing was created in the late 19th century by a chef at the Thousand Islands Park in the Thousand Islands region of New York. The chef, George Boldt, was experimenting with different salad dressings and came up with a combination of mayonnaise, ketchup, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and spices. The dressing quickly became popular and is now a staple of American cuisine.
