What is schnapps made of?

Schnapps is a type of distilled alcoholic beverage that is typically made from fermented fruit juice or mash. The most common base ingredient is fermented apples, but other fruits such as pears, plums, cherries, and peaches can also be used. The fermentation process converts the sugars in the fruit into alcohol. The resulting liquid is then distilled, which purifies it and increases the alcohol content. Schnapps can also be made from grains such as wheat, barley, or rye. In this case, the grains are first malted and then fermented before being distilled. Schnapps can come in a variety of flavors, and is typically bottled at between 30% and 40% alcohol by volume (ABV).
