Is it safe to serve cold boiled rice with hot curry?
It is not recommended to serve cold boiled rice with hot curry. While it is generally safe to eat cold cooked rice, it can carry the bacterium Bacillus cereus. This bacteria can cause food poisoning, with symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea. When cold rice is reheated, the bacteria can multiply, increasing the risk of food poisoning. To reduce the risk, leftover rice should be cooled and refrigerated as soon as possible, and then reheated thoroughly until it is steaming hot all the way through before serving with hot curry.
